Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin made NHL history on Saturday, February 22, 2020, when he scored his 700th career NHL goal.

Ovechkin reached the milestone during the Capitals' 3-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils. He became the eighth player in NHL history to reach the 700-goal mark, joining Wayne Gretzky (894), Gordie Howe (801), Jaromir Jagr (766), Brett Hull (741), Phil Esposito (717), Mario Lemieux (763), and Mike Gartner (708).
