Mbappe and Griezmann seal victory for Les Bleus

France maintained their impressive unbeaten record against Belgium with a 2-0 victory in the UEFA Nations League Group A2 clash at the Stade de France on Thursday night.

De Bruyne returns for Belgium

Belgium welcomed back Kevin De Bruyne to the starting line-up after missing the previous match against the Netherlands due to injury. However, the Manchester City playmaker was unable to inspire his team to victory.

France dominate the first half

The home side dominated possession in the first half and created several chances, with Antoine Griezmann going closest with a shot that hit the post. Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also made a number of saves to keep his team in the game.

Mbappe breaks the deadlock

France eventually took the lead in the 57th minute when Kylian Mbappe received a pass from Karim Benzema and fired into the bottom corner. It was the Paris Saint-Germain forward's third goal in as many games for his country.

Griezmann seals the win

Griezmann made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute with a clinical finish after being played through by Paul Pogba. It was the Barcelona forward's first goal for France since October 2021.

Belgium improve in the second half

Belgium improved in the second half and had a number of chances to reduce the deficit, but they were unable to find a way past France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

France extend unbeaten streak

The victory extends France's unbeaten run to six matches and moves them top of Group A2 with four points from two games. Belgium, meanwhile, have lost their first match of the Nations League campaign and are now third in the group.
