Kamala Harris Marks One Year Since the Riot at the U.S. Capitol

"We cannot let our future be decided by those bent on silencing our voices."

Vice President Kamala Harris spoke on Monday to campaign staff in Delaware.

Harris was endorsed by President Joe Biden after he chose to end his campaign. The following is the full transcript of an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris that aired Sunday, December 26, 2021, on Face the Nation.

Kamala Harris, the first Black woman and first South Asian American woman to become vice-president-elect, began her victory speech by acknowledging all the women who have worked to secure and protect the right to vote.

"But while I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last," she said. "Because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities."

Harris also spoke about the challenges that the country faces, including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and racial injustice.

"We have a lot of work to do," she said. "But I know that together, we can build a better future for our country."
