Early Life and Career

Born in Compton, California, DeRozan attended Compton High School, where he was a standout basketball player. He was named the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Los Angeles City Section Player of the Year in 2008 and led his team to the CIF Division I State Championship. After graduating high school, DeRozan played one season of college basketball for the University of Southern California (USC) before declaring for the NBA draft.

NBA Career

DeRozan was selected with the 9th overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors. He spent nine seasons with the Raptors, becoming one of the franchise's all-time leading scorers. In 2018, he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs, where he played for three seasons before joining the Chicago Bulls in 2021.

Playing Style and Accomplishments

DeRozan is known for his mid-range shooting ability and his strong post-up game. He is a four-time NBA All-Star and was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2018. DeRozan has also represented the United States on the national team, winning a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
