Pat Williams, Co-Founder of Orlando Magic, Dies at 84

Basketball Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient

Pat Williams, a co-founder of the Orlando Magic and recipient of the Basketball Hall of Fame's lifetime achievement award, died Wednesday from complications related to cancer, the NBA team announced in a news release. He was 84 years old.

A Legacy in the NBA

Williams spent more than a half-century working within the NBA. He was known for his innovative ideas and his passion for the game. He was instrumental in bringing the Magic to Orlando in 1989, and he served as the team's president and general manager for many years. He also worked with other NBA teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks.

Williams' contributions to the NBA were recognized with the Basketball Hall of Fame's lifetime achievement award in 2006. He was also inducted into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame in 2013.

Williams is survived by his wife, Judy, and their five children. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
